Does the world really need yet another blog? This was the first line on my inaugural post, and although I am still not sure of the answer, I have continued writing for the past few years (although not as frequently as I would like). As its name aptly suggests, this blog is about leadership, and most of what I write about is focused on the intersection of leadership and technology. My personal philosophy, which is hopefully reflected in my posts, is about giving people direction and trusting they will execute, recognizing that they may fail from time to time.
I most recently was the Group Vice President of Product and Customer Marketing at Planview, the leader in portfolio management and value stream management solutions. Before Planview, I was the Chief Marketing Officer at Tasktop, which Planview acquired in July 2022. Before Tasktop, I was VP of Marketing at Digital.ai (my prior company, Numerify, was acquired by Digital.ai in June 2020). Prior to Numerify, I built and led product and marketing teams at Simpplr, a modern employee intranet that helps organizations connect their workforce, iCharts, the premier business intelligence NetSuite partner, and NextPrinciples, an enterprise software platform helping companies extract true value from social media.
Before re-entering my entrepreneurial roots, I spent eight years at SAP in various executive roles. Between 2009 and 2012, I led many of SAP’s social marketing initiatives, ran part of SAP’s business analytics portfolio after the BusinessObjects acquisition, and co-led SAP’s Corporate Strategy Group.
Prior to SAP, I spent 4.5 years as a consultant at McKinsey & Company’s Amsterdam office, worked for Decision Focus Inc., a small boutique pricing optimization software and consulting firm that was acquired by Manugistics in 2000, and SABRE (back then a division of American Airlines) helping global airlines optimize their networks.
I received my M.S. in Operations Research from Stanford University and my B.A. in Computer Science / Mathematics from Colgate University.
If you want to connect, contact me directly, or connect with me on LinkedIn or Twitter.
Last but not least, I dream of making it to all seven summits (I am currently at one), and I try to give back by mentoring my teams and aspiring entrepreneurs. And finally, in order to maintain my sanity, I fly a small single-engine plane. You can read about my experience learning how to fly here or just enjoy this San Francisco Bay Area photo.
Happy reading!
